7, A dear and wonderful lady by the name of Karen, who worked at The Mayo Clinic, assisted us in finding a physician who was familiar with this rare cancer in a child. We were flown to Rochester, Minnesota by aircraft owners and pilots whom we had never met. They donated their aircrafts, fuel, and time to get Jordan to The Mayo Clinic. A marvelous team of physicians, radiologists, and pathologists were able to work together with one common goal-to save Jordan's life. More than a year later, our little Jordan is healthy, happy, and cancer-free. Her prognosis is good. This past spring, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to have a mastectomy. As with Jordan, my prognosis is good. I am so thankful that Jordan and I have been blessed with life in the face of death. I prayed and asked God to give me a sign as to where I needed to be and what I needed to be doing. I awakened one morning with the answer. I knew I had to "give back" by helping others and in a few hours, "Help From The Heart" was created. When we needed help, we began searching for answers. My desire is to reverse this process. I am going to search for the people who need help. I will begin my crusade by having people e-mail their verifiable story of need to me at:
Since October, 2000, we have selected a person or family in need from these stories. My long term goal is to be able to grant help to numerous individuals and families in need each and every month. No matter how small or large the need may be, please e-mail me and tell your story. Connecting my heart to your heart will allow me to make a difference one heart at a time. When there is love and peace in your heart, there is joy in your life. Pam Steele
